QUEZON CITY 5th District Councilor Aiko Melendez and Zambales 1st District Rep. Jay Khonghun have ended their relationship just a month before their eighth anniversary.
The breakup was confirmed by Aiko through an official statement read by her manager, Ogie Diaz, on his “Showbiz Update” vlog on Thursday night, October 2.
“After four months of reflection and careful consideration, Congressman Jay Khonghun and I, Councilor Aiko Melendez have mutually decided to part ways and go our separate directions. This decision was not made lightly but comes from a place of respect and understanding of what is best for both of us at this time,” the statement read.
Aiko clarified that no third party was involved and expressed gratitude for the years they shared together. She said both of them will continue their respective public service work “guided by the values of respect, kindness and dedication to the people we serve.”
She also appealed for privacy and understanding as they go through the transition.
