Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co has strongly denied allegations that he received billions of pesos in payoffs from flood control projects.
He made this statement in a letter addressed to House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III yesterday.
According to Co, he will return to the Philippines to clear his name from what he called baseless accusations.
He also expressed regret that his colleagues in the House of Representatives would restrict his previously scheduled time for medical care.
Co further raised concern that the decision to revoke his travel clearance may have been influenced by pressure rather than by truth and proper procedure.
He reiterated that he intends to return to the country and disprove the false accusations against him in the proper forum.
The lawmaker maintained that he has not received any funds connected to DPWH projects.
Meanwhile, Co shared his fears for his and his family’s safety, saying he already feels “prejudged” following the revocation of his approved travel clearance without even being given the chance to explain his side.
It may be recalled that Speaker Dy revoked Co’s travel clearance on September 18 and ordered him to return to the Philippines no later than September 29.
