
The Bicol Medical Center – Transplantation and Organ Procurement Services (BMC-TOPS) releases on Wednesday (Sept. 17, 2025) photos of the first deceased multi-organ donor retrieval in an operation conducted on Sept. 15.
The BMC-TOPS Team together with Lung Center of the Philippines Team, along with the presence of National Kidney and Transplant Institute- Human Organ Preservation Effort (NKTI-HOPE) Team achieve the first deceased retrieval of lungs and kidneys of a deceased organ donor.
This shows that healthcare and medical services in the Bicol region are continuously improving and adapting both nationally and internationally.
