The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has raised its El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) Alert and Warning System to a La Niña Alert after monitoring showed a 70 percent chance of La Niña developing between October and December 2025.
The weather bureau said La Niña conditions are likely to persist until early 2026.
PAGASA warned that La Niña typically brings above-normal rainfall and more tropical cyclones, increasing the risk of floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.
