Quiboloy Tarpaulin Poster Somewhere in Bicol Elicits Reactions

PASTOR APOLLO QUIBOLOY – A tarpaulin poster depicting the controversial religious leader found in Bicol has elicited mixed reactions from netizens.

Apollo Carreon Quiboloy is a pastor and the founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), a Restorationist church established in 1985. Quiboloy claims to be the “Appointed Son of God” and the “Owner of the Universe,” titles that have attracted both followers and criticism. Under his leadership, the KOJC has grown significantly, with a large membership base in the Philippines and abroad.

Quiboloy is also recognized for founding the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), which has become a key platform for sharing his religious teachings and views on various social and political issues. His close relationship with former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has further increased his influence, as he often expresses support for Duterte’s administration.

However, Quiboloy’s notoriety extends beyond his role as a religious leader. He is currently on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s wanted list due to multiple criminal charges, including sex trafficking, human trafficking, marriage fraud, coercion, money laundering, and cash smuggling. In March 2024, the Philippine Senate issued an arrest warrant for him after he refused to cooperate with inquiries into alleged human rights violations related to his church.

A bounty of ₱10,000,000 (about US$170,770) was offered for information leading to his arrest. Quiboloy was ultimately arrested on September 8, 2024, marking a significant turn in his controversial life and career. His legal troubles have sparked important discussions about the relationship between religion, power, and accountability in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, a post featuring a tarpaulin poster of Quiboloy taken in Bicol has elicited mixed reactions from netizens. One commenter humorously suggests that recent misfortunes, like a storm, might be related to Quiboloy’s political ambitions.
