The House of Representatives will award P6 million to gymnast Carlos Yulo for bagging the two gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Speaker Martin Romualdez said Monday said the amount is in accordance with the House’s earlier pledge of granting incentives to Olympic medalists, specifically P3 million for gold, P2 million for silver, and P1 million for bronze.
Yulo won the gold medal in floor exercise in men’s artistic gymnastics on Saturday night, making him the first ever Filipino male athlete to become an Olympic champion.
He then followed it up with another Olympic gold medal-winning showing in vault in men’s artistic gymnastics on Sunday night on a perfect balance of difficulty and clean execution, making him the only Filipino to win two multiple Olympic gold medals.
“With Yulo winning two gold medals, he will get a minimum incentive worth P6 million from the House,” Romualdez said in a statement.
