As “Queen of Tears” nears its end, with the finale scheduled to air on April 28, the romance K-drama’s popularity continued to soar, scoring its highest viewership ratings yet.
According to a Soompi report, the hit K-drama series “was the most-watched program of any kind to air on Saturday, April 27,” with an average nationwide rating of 21.1 percent based on Nielsen Korea.
Last week, “Queen of Tears” surpassed “Goblin” as the second highest-rated romance drama series on the South Korean TV network, tvN.
“Goblin,” which aired in December 2016, had a peak rating of 20.5 percent, which was then bested by “Crash Landing On You,” starring Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin, in 2020 with a peak rating of 24.1 percent, and a nationwide average of 21.7 percent.
“Queen on Tears” revolves around the ups and downs of married couple Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji Won) and Baek Hyun-woo (Kim Soo-hyun) and how their love was beautifully rekindled.
Since the series premier last March 9, it has been receiving positive feedback from viewers and accumulating high ratings. The drama gained popularity in the international scene and got fans and viewers anticipating every upcoming episode.
