The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has vowed to release the P12-million prize to lottery winner Antonio Mendoza, whose ticket was partially burned.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said Mendoza can claim his prize after completing the necessary processes.
“I assured him that I will expedite the process of his claim. Kailangan lang may certificate of finality from SC. I will make sure that he enjoys the fruits of his winnings ASAP. I wanted to put a closure on this issue,” Robles said.
The Supreme Court on September 30 ruled in favor of the Lotto 6/42 bettor, and ordered the PSCO to pay his prize amounting to P12,391,600.00 despite the damaged ticket.
The high court held that the “circumstances surrounding the fact that Mendoza bet in the eventual winning numbers of the lotto were clearly established.”
